1. When my computer starts up I get a message that says "Softstuff screen saver control panel did not load at start up, to use this program please restart your computer..."

Our screen saver software version 2.1.4 is only able to run on Macs running OS 8.0 or higher. This problem has been fixed in later versions.

2. My screen saver is making my computer crash whenever I log on to the internet, what can I do to fix this?

There is a conflict between our screen saver program (version 2.1.3 and earlier) and FreePPP. The latest version fixes this problem, as well as a few other minor problems.

3. I installed your screen saver, but it doesn't work. What should I do?

Check to see if you have the QuickTime extension installed. The screen saver needs this extension in order to run. If you don't have Quick Time, or need to update your current version, this link will take you to the Apple QuickTime website where you can download the current version.

4. I installed your screen saver and now my computer crashes during start-up. I am running Mac OS 7.6.x.

Due to an oversight, the installer for versions prior to 2.3 is installing an unneeded extension under Mac OS 7.6 and 7.6.1. You can correct this by starting your computer with extensions off (hold down the shift key while it is starting). You can then delete the file "SoftStuff" (the quotes are used here for clarity) in the Extensions folder inside the System Folder. You can then restart your computer normally.

5. On my Mac the screen saver only activates when AzureBay is the active program. Is there a fix for this?

Yes, download the latest version of our software.

6. How do I uninstall the Mac screen saver?

  1. "Quit" the SoftStuff program .
  2. Do a "Find" for "SoftStuff" (File) .
  3. Delete any reference to SoftStuff by putting the file in the Trash .
  4. Empty the trash (Special)
  5. Restart the system.

7. My computer freezes or hangs up while the screen saver is running.

This problem occurs when the screen saver starts while AOL is running. This problem has been corrected in later versions. To correct the problem 1) Download the AzureBay screen saver using the AzureBay Updater. 2) Install the AzureBay screen saver program, but do not restart the computer 3) Do a find using Sherlock for files named "SoftStuf". Drag all of the files over to the trash. 4) Now restart the computer 5) Visit the Macintosh AzureBay Versions Frequently Asked Questions page and install the AzureBay AOL update

8. How do I update my SoftStuff screen saver to the newer AzureBay version?

How do I update my SoftStuff screen saver to the newer AzureBay version?
1) Install the SoftStuff screen saver
2) Restart
3) Download and Install the AzureBay Updater (after installation don't restart)
4) Trash all Files named "SoftStuff" using Sherlock
5) Restart
*Warning If in the extensions and startup folders there are AzureBay and Softstuff files, the computer will freeze at start-up. If this happens, restart the computer hitting the Shift key to start with the extensions off. Do a find using Sherlock and drag all files named SoftStuff or AzureBay to the trash. Then follow the above instructions.

9. Macintosh OS 10 Users

Unfortunately SoftStuff screen savers are not compatible with Macintosh OS 10. For more information about OS 10, please see the information at the bottom of this page about upgrading Softstuff to AzureBay as well as click here.
